Revolutionary Thinking

I was intrigued to find on the very first page of Robert Macfarlane’s introduction to his wonderful Is A River Alive? a reference to Michel Serres. He says the three landscapes that he explores in his book:

become a focus for revolutionary thinking about what the philosopher Michel Serres called ‘the natural contract’

What is tantalising is that after this statement, Serres’ work on the natural contract, or anything else to do with his philosophy, is not mentioned again throughout the book. What is this  ‘revolutionary thinking’ that underpins this inspiring book by Macfarlane?  This is what I try to tease out in this website.
